Disappointingly no, there was no confrontation. he was clearly worried about my promised revenge, and deigned not to attack me at the Event. Needless to say I was a bit disappointed that he would show such cowardice. Hopefully next event he'll man up, but I doubt it!

Clearly you were too rich to pay much attention at school. "Whom" is not just a fancy word that you can sub-in for "who" when you want to sound smart. The rule is simple, you use "who" for the *subject* of a sentence, "whom" for the *object*.
